The Harrisburg Tigers would get a late first half goal and keep the Pierre offense at bay to hold on for a 1-0 win in the state semifinals on Tuesday ending the Governor season.
Pierre would be outshot 33-1 in the game as Harrisburg controlled the flow of the game and didn’t allow the Governor offense any kind of sustained pressure. However, while the Tigers had 33 shots and 21 hit the target, the Governor defense forced Harrisburg into longer shots and Emlyn Swanson would have 20 saves in the match with several big diving saves keeping the Governors in the contest. With 10:29 left in the first half, Nyah Aware would get the lone strike of the match as she would perfectly place the ball to skim the crossbar and go down into the back of the net giving Swanson no chance to make the save. Outside of a shot wide of the net on a free kick off a foul, the Governors didn’t get a shot another shot away.
Pierre finishes the season at 13-3-1 on the year and for seniors, Jasmine Jost, Kathryn Hostler, Kinslee Pfeffer and Natalie Flottmeyer, their Governor soccer careers come to an end.
