The Pierre Governors outscored the Watertown Arrows 3-1 in each half to win 6-2 in the state quarterfinal game in Pierre on Saturday as the Govs reach the state semifinals on Tuesday.
The Governors, for the second time in two playoff games, would trail 1-0 early in the game, but Aubrey Fischer and Natalie Flottmeyer each scored a goal within a minute apart in the final 10 minutes of the half before Flottmeyer scored again to lead 3-1 at the break. Watertown would score a goal in the first minute of the second half, but Lexie Hillmer had two free kick goals along with a Myah Fravel goal to dominate both halves beating the 11 seed Arrows. Emlyn Swanson made six saves, with a couple being tremendous chances for the Arrows to help pick up the Governors 13th win of the season.
The Governors will face Harrisburg on the road on Tuesday in the semifinals after the Tigers beat the Yankton Gazelles 1-0. Kickoff is still to be determined but the game will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
