Adrian Hand is a tennis state champion as she would win the singles flight five championship as the Pierre Governors would finish at sixth place as a team at the state tennis tournament in Sioux Falls.
Hand, who made the semifinals on Monday, would beat the number one seed to reach the championship and then beat the second seed to win the title as she did not lose a set over the course of the two days. She would 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals and 6-2, 6-2 in the championship.
In the rest of the singles flights, Breanna Tedrow in flight one would place fifth as the sixth seed would finish one spot higher than her seed. Elise Bowers in flight two would fall in the consolation championship, Eliza Mayer in flight three would place fourth, finishing higher than her seed, Amara Dell in flight four would fall in the championship and would also finish higher than her seed as she upset the two seed to reach the championship match. Gemma Stangeland would finish in fifth in flight six.
In doubles, Tedrow and Dell in flight one would get fifth place to finish higher than their seed and then Hand and Stangleand would get third in flight three.
As a team, Pierre finished with 264.5 points to place sixth while Sioux Falls Christian would win the team title at 563 points overall.
