
FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — A short-term detour will be in place in Fort Pierre next Thursday so the Park Street railroad crossing can be upgraded with concrete panels as the Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern railroad continues an 84 million dollar upgrade to the line between Fort Pierre and Rapid City. The detour is via Second and Third Streets and will be available to local traffic only. The passage of trailers, boats, campers and overwidth vehicles will be restricted. An 11-foot height restriction will also be in place….

The closure of the Park Street crossing is only expected to last 24 hours and should reopen on Friday October 10. The Park Street crossing is the only access to Highway 83 residents have south of the Bad River and west of the R-C-P-and-E rail line.
