The Pierre Governors and Yankton Bucks will meet in Yankton tonight in a rematch of last year’s state semifinal, hitting the halfway point of the season.
Both teams are coming in at 3-1 on the season as both teams have a win over Watertown but the Bucks beat Huron to open the season while the Govs’ lone loss is to the Tigers. The Governors have had to fight through two tough home games with subpar weather and field conditions but have won both. Tonight, the weather and a turf field, there won’t be any of those factors to worry about. Yankton’s lone loss is to 11AAA Harrisburg last Saturday. With six teams in 11AA being 3-1, a lot is on the line tonight when it comes to seeding at the end of the season. Going from the Bobcats to the Bucks, Steve Steele, head coach of the Pierre Governors, says it’s basically polar opposites…
Even though personnel changes from year-to-year, Steele says this Yankton team looks similar to last year…
Steele says they need to be lined up quickly on defense…
Coverage tonight begins at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Mendel Miller on the call.
