The Sully Buttes Chargers will have a Friday matinee this week, but it comes as one of the biggest games in the state as they travel to face the Faulkton Area Trojans in a rematch of the 9B state championship.
The Chargers come in at 4-0 on the season after a shutout of Gettysburg in which Sully Buttes allowed less than 30 yards of total offense to the Battlers. Faulkton, meanwhile, is 2-2 on the season with losses to Ipswich and Warner, both teams in a bigger class. Faulkton shutout Leola/Frederick 37-0 last Friday and are playing its third straight home game this afternoon. These two teams met last year as the Trojans beat the Chargers 28-8 in Onida before Sully Buttes would get their revenge when it mattered the most with a 34-14 win in Vermillion at the 9B state championship. It’s a 3:00 kickoff today instead of the usual 7:00 start time but Moore says it doesn’t make too much of a difference starting earlier…
