PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Future Farmers of America project from the Philip chapter has been awarded funds to complete their project. The Philip chapter of F-F-A wants to construct a shed for the Philip rodeo grounds. The grants are being provided as a special project to t the South Dakota F-F-A Foundation with the Wayne and Gwynn Hansen fund and Bawek Trucking donating to provide the grants. The Foundation is providing 500-dollar grants to the chapters to finish their service projects. South Dakota F-F-A Foundation Executive Director Gerri Ann Edie says F-F-A wants to grow community leaders by encouraging members to take active roles in the betterment fo their communities. Other chapters receiving grants for projects include Arlington, Beresford, Doland, Ethan, Florence, Hot Springs and Menno. Other projects include creating and delivering ag lessons to elementary students; creating fleece blankets for sheriff department emergencies, construction of raised garden beds for elderly users and building sawhorses for the Poultry Barn at the South Dakota State Fair.
