The Pierre Governor tennis team would go 1-1 over the weekend in Huron, losing to Watertown 6-3, but beating Brookings 8-1 in two ESD contests.
The Governors would start the day with the 6-3 loss to the Arrows as Amara Dell and Adrian Hand in singles flight four and five along with Elise Bowers and Eliza Mayer in doubles flight two getting the three wins against the Arrows. Hand and Gemma Stangeland lost 10-9 (10-8) in doubles flight three nearly making it a 5-4 contest with another 10-6 loss in singles flight six, but the Arrows just barely got the team win.
Pierre followed it up though with a dominating win over the Bobcats, taking it 8-1 to finish Saturday. Breanna Tedrow in flight one, Bowers in flight two, Dell in flight four, Hand in flight five and Stangeland in flight six would win in singles. All three doubles flights would win as well for the Govs with Tedrow and Dell in flight one, Bowers and Mayer in flight two and Hand and Stangeland in flight three.
Pierre is now 4-9 on the season in duals. The Govs will travel to Aberdeen for the Elliot Extravaganza on Saturday and will see the teams of Aberdeen Central, Roncalli, Huron and Milbank.
