The Ipswich Tigers blew out of the gate and raced to a big first set victory, and had their hands full the rest of the way eventually knocking off the Sully Buttes Chargers 25-10, 27-25-18-25 and 25-15 Tuesday night in Onida.
The Tigers boast ten seniors on the roster and have a constant rotation with bench players for front and back row play. The Chargers have eight seniors on their roster, and equaled the Tigers in play in the second, third and fourth sets.
Hitting errors brought Sully Buttes down in the first and last sets, but Ipswich struggled from behind the service line with 20 service errors in the match. Sully Buttes totaled five for the night.
Leading the way for Ipswich was Marley Guthmiller, who tallied 17 kills with Jalyssa Hutson adding six.
The Chargers were led in kills by Jadyn Jaeger with seven, while fellow senior Scottlynn Kinney had another impressive night both in the front and back rows.
Sully Buttes, at 2-5 now travels to Winner Thursday to face the 2-2 Warriors, while Ipswich at 3-1 hosts Sunshine Bible Academy, also on Thursday evening.
Next Charger volleyball match on Country 95.3 happens next week from the Gardens at Lyman School on Thursday, September 18th.
