The Pierre Governor volleyball team will be at home this weekend for a Friday and Saturday matchup hosting Sturgis Scoopers and then the Spearfish Spartans.
The Governors are coming into the weekend at 1-4 after beating Douglas last Thursday in a sweep, but being swept by Mitchell on Saturday. They first face the Scoopers who are 3-6 after beating Custer on Tuesday. The Scoopers have also beaten Belle Fourche and Mahpiya Luta. They are 0-3 against Class AA teams including two losses to Mitchell, one where they lost in four sets to the Kernels.
On Saturday, the Governors host the Spartans who are 8-4 on the season after beating Rapid City Christian for a second time in a matter of days. They played in Campbell County, Wyoming on Saturday and then played again on Tuesday, getting two wins. The Spartans are looking to make the state tournament this year after being the eight seed last year and being swept by Aberdeen Central in the SoDak 16.
First serve is scheduled for 6:30 on Friday against Sturgis and then at 12:30 on Saturday against Spearfish.
