It will be a battle of two of the top teams in girls soccer Thursday afternoon as the Governors host the Harrisburg Tigers at the PILC Fields
The Governor girls will play first as they face the 6-0 Harrisburg Tigers as they are one of four teams who are unbeaten. The Governors are one of the other three at 6-0-1 on the season with the only tie against another unbeaten, Roosevelt at 1-1 on the road. Pierre has scored three goals in each of the last three games while for the flip side of Harrisburg, one has been enough to win every game. The Tigers have scored 25 goals in six games, but have not allowed a single goal yet this year. Averaging four goals per game, even at just one goal per game would lead to the same record. As good as the Tigers are offensively, they are even better defensively.
It’s not quite the opposite on the boys side, but the Tiger boys are struggling to score and keep goals out as they have lost five straight and are 1-5 on the season. In the five game losing streak, Harrisburg has scored just twice and have given up 11 goals. Pierre is now 4-2-2 and have won three straight and have made their way into the top eight of the standings now fully into the second half of the season. Both opponents this week are behind the Governors in the standings.
Kickoff is at 4:00 for the girls game with the boys game to follow at the PILC Fields.
KCCR previously had the story where the games were going to be played at Hollister, but they are moved to the PILC Fields.
