The Pierre Governor golf team would finish in fifth place of 10 teams on Tuesday hosted by Aberdeen Central with yet another Governor leading for the first time in his varsity career.
Josh Liudahl would finish at eight over par, 79 for the Governors as he would take a top 20 finish, tying for 18th place. He would be nine shots off the lead but just five shots back of third place. He’s now the fourth different Governor to lead Pierre in five invites. Caleb Hutton would be at 21st at nine over par, 80 while Matthew Eberhard was a shot behind Hutton at 10 over par, 81, finishing in 23rd place. Rigley Kulesa would tie for 28th at 14 over par, 85 while Tate Stoeser would round out five Governors in the top 30 at 15 over par, 86. Ryker Edson would finish with an 89 still inside the top 40. Jerome Zebroski of Watertown would win over Brookings’ Tyson Lunn as both were one under par, 70 for the contest.
As a team, Pierre would place fifth at 41 over par, 325 while Watertown would win the team score edging out Brookings by a stroke, 15 over par, 299 to 16 over par, 300.
The Governors are off until next week Friday when they travel to Yankton.
