Tuesday morning into the afternoon, the Pierre Governor golf team would host the Pierre Invite at Hillsview Golf Course and would get both the varsity and JV teams competing in the event.
The Governors were led in scoring by Caleb Hutton, his first time being the team leader in his short varsity career as he would place tied for 23rd at seven over par, 79, one shot better than teammate Tate Stoeser who would tie for 30th at eight over par, 80. Hudson Prunty would have the best finish for the JV team at 12 over par, 84 tying with Josh Liudahl who was playing with the varsity for the first time and Rigley Kulesa as they would finish tied for 47th overall. Connor Peschong with the JV team would shoot 14 over par, 86, Ryker Edson for the varsity team would be at 15 over par, 87, Matthew Eberhard with the JV at 16 over par 88, Aiden Howard with the JV at 19 over par, 91, Matt Mosteller for the varsity at a 92, and then Dalton Eldridge and Bryce Feazell at 96 and 98 for the JV to round out the 12 golfers in total.
Mitchell’s Everett Morrison would hold off Watertown’s Gavin Neyens and Brandon Valley’s Will Peterson by a shot to win the day at three under par, 69. A total of five golfers would be even par or better as Watertown would win the team score at just two over par, 290, beating Brandon Valley by two shots and Mitchell by seven shots. Pierre would finish tenth with a 39 over par, 327 while the JV team would finish 12th of 14 teams at 61 over par, 349.
