The Pierre Governor volleyball team will be on the road as they open the season tonight against the Watertown Arrows in an ESD contest starting a busy week on the road.
Pierre finished 6-15 last season as the 15 seed in the standings losing to Jefferson in SoDak 16 as the Govs are looking to get back to the state tournament for the first time since the 2022 season. The Governors graduated eight seniors on last year’s squad with all eight getting at least some, if not a lot of playing time. Pierre will start fresh with more balanced numbers across classes heading into the season. Meanwhile, Watertown will be looking to get back to the state tournament after getting sixth place in the state tournament last year. Watertown loses six to graduation as Rosemary Bellum’s group looks to reload for another season. Carrie Wheelhouse, head coach of the Pierre Governors says this is a young group…
Even with the turnover from last year, Wheelhouse isn’t expecting anything different than a good Watertown team tonight…
Wheelhouse says they need to be focused on themselves tonight and play their game…
Coverage tonight begins at 6:00 with first serve around 6:30 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
