The Pierre Governor golf team went from Brandon to Rapid City on Monday to Tuesday playing its second straight day to open the season. Pierre finished in 11th as a team overall at Meadowbrook Golf Course.
For the second straight day, Tate Stoeser led the Governors as he tied for 21st at five over par, 77, within three shots of being in the top ten. He was nine shots back of Taten Mauney of O’Gorman who would win the invite at four under par, 68. A total of six golfers went under par on Tuesday. Caleb Hutton would be tied for 48th at 12 over par, 84 and Ryker Edson right behind him at 51st with a 13 over par, 85. Rigley Kulesa shot an 89, Matt Mosteller a 93 and Matthew Eberhard a 99 to round the six Governor golfers.
As a team, Pierre would finish 11th at 47 over par, 335. Pierre was within 20 shots of reaching fifth place as O’Gorman won the team score going three under par as a team, beating Harrisburg by six strokes, who placed second.
Pierre will be at home next, next week Tuesday at Hillsview Golf Course. It’s the lone home invite of the season. Tee time will be at 10:00 AM.
