PIERRE, (KCCR) — The man caught by law enforcement with a record amount of crystal methamphetamine has been indicted by a Meade County grand jury. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says 42 year-old Alonso Molinacorona of Fresno, California was indicted Monday for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute and Unauthorized Possession of a Drug or Controlled Substance. He was arrested Friday during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally while transporting 202 pounds of meth. Molinacorona could face up to 20 years in prison, if convicted. South Dakota Highway Patrol troopers stopped Molinacorona for speeding and discovered the drugs during the traffic stop. The drugs have a street value of 12 million dollars. Jackley says that amount of meth could lead to grave consequences for South Dakotans. Molinacorona pleaded not guilty Monday to the charges. He is being held without bond and is next scheduled in court September 10th. Jackley expects federal charges to be filed in the case as well.
