The Pierre Governor golf team will have most change in the last four years as five golfers graduate with only one of the six varsity members returning from last year’s team.
Tate Stoeser moves into his sophomore year and is the lone returning varsity member after Sawyer Sonnenschein, Luke Olson, Nick Bothun, Lincoln Houska and Jack Bartlett all have graduated. It really creates a lot of competition for the opening five spots heading into the fall, unlike other years where those five had pretty much locked in their spot every year. Pierre opens up with two big competitions today and Tuesday which will give these young guys a quick taste of varsity experience. Pierre will play in Brandon today at the Municipal Golf Course before traveling across the state to Rapid City on Tuesday to play the Meadowbrook Golf course, the site of this year’s state tournament. Tiffany Benham, head coach of the Pierre Governors says the competition was great to begin practices…
Benham says Stoeser is already showing a leadership role already…
Benham says these first competitions they need to only worry about themselves and not look at what the rest of the field is doing…
Tee time is at 2:00 this afternoon from the Brandon Municipal Golf Course.
