The Pierre Governor tennis team gets to officially begin competition of fall sports as they host the Governor Invite beginning with a dual against Stevens today.
Pierre was a young team last year with only Bailey Jessen and Ella Fisk graduating as Jessen was the singles flight one participant and the two were together in doubles which means there weren’t a lot of complete open spots heading into the season. Amara Dell and Breanna Tedrow are the two seniors returning for this season with the rest being sophomores as Pierre had three freshman in the lineup last year as Elise Bowers, Eliza Mayer and Adrian Hand return for their sophomore campaign. The Governors will open up with a dual against Stevens today, a team that beat them 9-0 last season. Bauck says while being a young team, the experience from last year will pay dividends to start the season…
As for the rest of the weekend, Pierre will compete against Yankton, Rapid City Christian and Huron and Bauck says a key to success will be consistency…
