PIERRE, (KCCR) — Two Pierre women were arrested over the weekend after being found by police smoking marijuana in the presence of young children. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were called Saturday afternoon around 5:15 pm to the 1200 block of Izaak Walton Road for a report of two people smoking marijuana in a vehicle. Officers located a vehicle occupied by30 year-old Julia Marks and 27 year-old Kami Konop. Two children under the age of 10 were found by police in the vehicle as well. A search of the vehicle uncovered drug paraphernalia and T-H-C wax inside. Marks was identified by police as the driver and was given a field sobriety test. Marks was arrested on three drug charges, D-U-I, Driving Without a Valid License, Failure to Maintain Insurance, Expired Plates and Contributing to the Abuse, Neglect or Delinquency of a Minor. Konop was arrested for Ingesting a Substance to Become Intoxicated and Contributing to the Abuse, Neglect or Delinquency of a Minor. The children were released to adult family and or friends for safety.
