The Spearfish Sasquatch would finish off the sweep of the Oahe Zap on Friday as the Sasquatch would win 6-3 Friday night in Spearfish winning its first Independence League Championship in team history.
The Sasquatch would take the first two games of the championship series and then opened up with a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a three run homer by Sam Kwapnioski and never looked back. The Sasquatch would another two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-0 lead before the Zap finally would get some runs back with a a bases loaded hit by pitch as Jared Pugrad would bring home the first run in the top of the fourth. Ty Farwell would hit a two run homer in the top of the fifth to make it 5-3 but in the bottom of the eighth, Carson Raether, who went 3-3 in the game, had a solo shot for the final mark of the season and the Zap were retired in order in the top of the ninth as the Sasquatch celebration would begin on the field.
Oahe’s best season finishes at 26-27 making the championship series legitimately for the first time in the eight years since the Pierre Trappers came to town in 2018.
