PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Fort Thompson man was sentenced to time already served for failing to register as a sex offender on the Crow Creek Sioux Indian Reservation. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 41 year-old Stuart Dion was sentenced to time served through August 4th, which means he’ll be released Monday after serving what will amount to eleven-and-a-half months in federal prison. Upon release, Dion will serve five years of supervised release. Because of a prior federal conviction for Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Dion was required to register as a sex offender. Dion has had other prior convictions for also not registering upon release from prison. He most recently was released and returned to Fort Thompson on the Crow Creek reservation in March of last year. On April 11th of 2024 Dion moved from is registered address, failing to register at a new address. Dion was indicted by a federal grand jury in January and pleaded guilty July 14th.
