Pierre Post 8 13/14 would finish 2-2 at the state tournament this weekend in Sioux Falls making it to the quarterfinals, just one win away from playing on Sunday.
In game one, Pierre would beat Watertown 15-3 as Brannen Nickolas, Matthew Mosteller and Edwin Rattling Leaf would each have three RBIs. Justin Neuharth threw a five inning complete game allowing just one earned run on one hit.
Pierre would fall to Spearfish 24-3 in the second and final pool play game on Friday night as it was the fifth inning which got away from the Eights, but they would bounce back earlier Saturday beating Harrisburg Gold 9-6 as Pierre scored in every inning including a three run first and fifth as Jett Brakke, Daymien Roubideaux, Neuharth and Nickolas each had an RBI in the win while Mosteller and Rattling Leaf would split the outing on the mound to get the win.
Then Saturday, evening, Pierre fell 14-3 to Harrisburg Maroon as their tournament would close. The Eights allowed a nine run second and five run third coming up short of a semifinal bid. Chisum Brakke had the lone RBI in the game as he threw the first two and one third innings on the mound for Pierre.
The 13/14 Eights finish the season at 10-18-1, going 2-2 in the state tournament and a clear indication of growth for the team at the end of the summer.
