The Oahe Zap looked to be in control heading into the bottom of the eighth on their way to securing another win, inching closer to clinching a championship series berth, but it was a seven run eighth for the Fremont Moo to win 12-8 over Oahe Thursday night in Fremont.
After Tyman Long hit a home run in the bottom of the third to give the Moo a 3-1 lead, Oahe responded with a six run fourth as Nick Golden and Ty Farwell each picked up an RBI and two wild pitches in the same at bat and a two base error helped score the remaining runs in the inning to put the Zap up7-3. Farwell had another RBI single to get the lead up to 8-3 before the Moo started their comeback. Long hit another homer in the bottom of the seventh to make it 8-5 and Cooper Fuchino had a three run triple and Nate Watcher hit a three run homer to give the Moo the 12-8 lead and the Zap were retired in order in the top of the ninth.
With the loss and Hastings Sodbusters split with Nebraska on Thursday, the Zap have a 13-7 record while the Sodbusters are 11-7 in the second half of the season. Oahe finishes the series with Fremont tonight at 7:05 before hosting Hastings in a two game set Saturday and Sunday at 6:05 and 2:30. Regardless of what happens tonight, the team advancing to the championship series will be determined in Pierre this weekend between the Zap and Sodbusters.
