Microbursts can be particularly dangerous to aircraft. The microburst over Pierre happened around eight pm, which is the same scheduled time Denver Air Connections’ return flight from Denver normally arrives in Pierre. Denver Air Flight 4720 was diverted from Pierre to Watertown around 8:45 pm where it stayed overnight due to severe weather moving across the state.
