The Oahe Zap would get the opening game of the three game series against the Fremont Moo on Wednesday as the Zap won 6-2 to continue pushing for the playoffs.
The win brought the Zap to .500 at 21-21 with eight games remaining in the regular season and they do so never trailing in the game. In fact, the Zap led 6-0 before the Moo would score a run in the eighth and ninth only. The Zap got on the board in the bottom of the third as Emiliano Curiel would score on a wild pitch. Quinn Ludvigsen would blast his third home of the season, a two run shot in the bottom of the fourth before Vince Polizzi would hit his seventh homer of the season, another two run shot to go up 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth and an error made it 6-0. The RBIs were Polizzi’s team leading 35th and 36th of the season which is third in all of the Independence League this season. Estevan Baca would go the distance in a rare complete game throwing 99 pitches in nine innings. Baca sprinkled 10 hits over nine innings allow both earned runs with only one walk and had three strikeouts.
Oahe will continue its series tonight against the Moo. First pitch from Hyde Stadium in Pierre is at 6:05.
