Starting today and running through the weekend, both Men’s and Women’s Match Play Tournaments will take place at the Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls.
On the men’s side, Lincoln Houska, Luke Olson, Sawyer Sonnenschein and Nick Bothun, four graduating Pierre Governors will compete as Jayce Pugh of Miller will compete on the women’s side. There are 64 competitors in the men’s bracket with 16 pod winners advancing to the Round of 16. The three pod rounds will be played with two on Thursday and one on Friday. Saturday will be the Round of 16 and quarterfinals with Sunday being the semifinals and championship. With 32 golfers in the women’s bracket, they will play the first two rounds on Friday and the third match on Saturday morning with the quarterfinals in the afternoon and then the semifinals and championship on Sunday.
Olson and Sonnenschein will be in Pod 6 and will face Brock Murphy and Tyson Blom, each of Sioux Falls. Houska will face Stuart Stein of Watertown and Russell Pick and Brent Miller of Sioux Falls in Pod 11. Sonnenschein and Bothun each qualified with the last chance on Wednesday to participate over the weekend. Bothun will be in Pod 4 facing Charlie Jacobson and Brody Hermann of Sioux Falls along with Radley Mauney of Hartford.
Pugh will be in Pod 2 and will face Anna Eliason of Mitchell and Kyley Wirebaugh and Olivia Braun of Aberdeen, three of the top golfers in AA. Pugh will open Friday against Wirebaugh at 7:24 and then at 1:48 against Eliason.
