The Oahe Zap couldn’t find enough runs on Wednesday in Spearfish as the Sasquatch would split the two game series winning 10-3 as the Zap will return home for two straight weeks.
In the second road game of July of only six in total in the month, Oahe gave up the big inning as Spearfish scored six times in the bottom of the eighth to bust what was a 4-3 lead to go up 10-3. Spearfish scored three runs in the second and held the lead until the sixth when the Zap would get all three of its runs. Emiliano Curiel would double home the first run of the inning and Aiden Johnson would bring home Curiel to make it 3-2 on a ground out. Ty Farwell would score to tie the game at three, but Clay Porter’s go-ahead double in the bottom of the seventh would give the Sasquatch the lead for good and Oahe failed to record a hit in either the eighth or ninth and had just two base runners in the final two innings.
The loss drops the Zap to 12-18 overall in the season but the Zap return home and will have 14 games straight at home spanning from today, July 3 to July 18. Oahe faces the Bison Baseball team for a four game set. First pitch tonight, Friday and Saturday is at 6:05 with Sunday’s game at 2:05, all at Hyde Stadium.
