South Dakota United teams in Chicago at the US Club Soccer Regionals over the weekend would fall short of making the championship as the U13 Force was eliminated after pool play and the U15 Spirit dropped its semifinal matchup.
The U13 team went 1-1-1 over the weekend as they dropped its first 2-1 to Club Ohio, but then tied the Fusion SC 2-2 and then won the final game of the weekend 3-1 over North Oaks. The Fusion team won the pool at 2-0-1 and advanced to Monday’s championship. Ivy Flottmeyer, Cameron Larson, Aubrey Fischer and Ella Nelson were the four members to be on the squad representing Pierre.
The U15 Spirit team would make it out of pool play and into the semifinals Sunday evening winning its pool winning twice and tying at 2-0-1. The Spirit tied its first game 2-2 against Palatine Celtic before then shutting out its next two opponents winning 2-0 over Tonka United and 1-0 over the Cleveland Cobras. The Spirit would face the Elite FC in the semifinals who went 3-0 in pool play and battled tough, but fell 1-0 as the Elite FC will face Prior Lake in the championship game on Monday. Brittany Sargent, Emlyn Swanson and Josephine Wurtz were there as Pierre members on the U15 squad. Micha Klinger, Myah Fravel and Rayya Hofer were not in Chicago but are a part of the U15 Spirit.
