PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre woman was arrested early Saturday evening after crashing into a piece of Pierre city electric infrastructure. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were called to an alley near the 300 block of South Pierre Street around six pm for a reported hit-and-run. Investigating officers learned a black Cadillac Escaldade allegedly struck the box and left. Officers located the Escalade about three blocks away from the crash scene. Officers determined the driver to be 59 year-old Jann Vaudrin of Pierre. Pelle says the investigation found Vaudrin to have consumed multiple medications prior to the crash and based on the observation of investigating officers, suspected Vaudrin to be under the influence of those medications. Vaudrin was transported to the Hughes County Jail on charges including Third Offense Driving Under the Influence, Driving Without a Valid License, Ingesting a Substance to Become Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
