Pierre Post 8 would comeback for a second game win after being walked off 2-1 in game one, to win game two 7-4 on Tuesday on the road against Sioux Falls East Post 15.
In game one, both Ethan Olson of East and JJ Bucholz of the Eights would go the distance on the mound as Bucholz would allow just two runs, one earned on five hits with four strikeouts. Olson allowed a run on three hits with four walks and three strikeouts. Carter Schiefelbein would get the lone RBI in game one, but it would come with two outs in the top of the seventh to tie the game. However, Brody Schafer would single home Caden Sporrer in the bottom of the seventh to walk off the Eights. Nolan Petersen and Dawson Getz had the other two hits for the Eights in the game one loss.
In game two, Pierre wasted no time to get on the board as the Eights scored three in the first starting with an RBI triple by Charlie Simpson. Getz and Bucholz would single home runs in the top of the first. Pierre led 3-1 after three and the lead stood until the top of the sixth when the Eights put the seal on the win. An error would make it 4-1 before Sutton Sonnenschein and Peterson would execute a double steal to make it 5-1 before Getz had another RBI single and Ridge Leimbach would triple home Getz to make it a 7-1 lead. Will Danburg would get the win on the mound going six and two thirds innings allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Porter Hunsley would get the final out facing three batters recording a walk and strikeout. Pierre had 11 hits in the win as seven of the nine hitters in the order recorded a hit with Getz have three and Leimbach and Schiefelbein having two each.
Pierre is now 1-3 on the season and will travel to Rapid City for the Veteran’s Classic beginning on Thursday.
