The weather forecast may not look great, but the Pierre Governor golf team is in Sioux Falls as the Prairie Green Golf Course for the Class AA girls state tournament both today and Tuesday.
The Governors qualified as a team, one of the 10 of 20 teams in total to qualify the team. Hadley Hart leads the group with a consistent top 10-15 finish throughout the entire year. Both Drew Rechtenbaugh and Sittie Kasan return to the state tournament with Hart and Sierra Prunty, who is in her first year with golf will round out the team competing at the state tournament. Tiffany Benham, head coach of the Governors says it’s exciting to have a full team headed to the state meet from where the year was starting with the Govs…
Pierre has played at the Prairie Green in Sioux Falls back on May 5 as the Govs placed ninth as a team with a 387 overall as a team and were within 15 shots of sixth. Hart placed seventh at seven over par, 79 while both Rechtenbaugh and Kasan shot a 94 and Sierra Prunty a 120. Now, as the Govs head back there for the state meet, the weather isn’t looking like ideal playing conditions which can inflate scores for everybody around the state. It’s something that Benham realizes and knows they need play through the elements while not being discouraged with certain finishes on a hole…
Hart is ready for the tournament in her junior year as she has shown she’s one of the top golfers in the state…
Hart is going to keep a sound mindset going through the two days…
Benham says they need to play their own game…
Both days tee off at 8:00 AM at the Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls. The GGID is 25SDGIRLSAA.
