PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Western Dakota Regional Water System is hosting a trio of open house events to give area residents a look inside what the proposed water transport pipeline would do. The open house events will be in Piedmont June 3rd; Hot Springs June 4th and Fort Pierre, June 5th. The Western Dakota Regional Water System would take Missouri River water and ship it to western parts of the state. The open house events will give cities, water systems and community members a chance to learn more about the project and ask questions of Western Dakota officials. Western Dakota has 41 members including the City of Fort Pierre. Executive Director Kristen Conzet says engaging stakeholder early in the process is essential in determining water need and long term planning for western South Dakota. The Fort Pierre open house will be held at the Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center Museum from 4:30 to 6:30 pm on Thursday, June 5th. Refreshments will be served.
