The Pierre Governor softball team would get a 7-6 win with a walk off error on Wednesday afternoon as the Govs would get a win in the final home game of the season.
Pierre opened up with a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as McKenzi Flottmeyer would drive in the first run of the game. Pierre added to their lead with a three run fourth inning to go up 5-1 as Charlotte Hull would single home a run as did Alivia Heymans. Tea would get five runs in the top of sixth including a home run from Allie Wallum to take a 6-5 advantage, but Flottmeyer would tie the game with her second RBI single sending the game tied into the bottom of the seventh. With the game tied, senior Noel Kist would come to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs and would rip a shot to left and the left fielder was unable to make the play scoring the game winning run stopping a 10 game losing streak. Flottmeyer would get the win in the circle going an inning and a third with only one walk and two strikeouts coming in relief of Kist who threw five and 2/3 innings allowing six runs, one earned, on seven hits and seven strikeouts.
Pierre improves to 4-15 on the season and is scheduled to close the regular season on Thursday on the road against Harrisburg.
