The Pierre Governor tennis team would wrap up the Class A state tournament on Tuesday with a fifth place and a couple of third place finishers.
Starting with the singles tournaments, Jacob Leiferman, the lone senior, in flight two would win the third place match 8-5 as the five seed had two upsets in the tournament. Noah Lueking in flight three would win his lone match, the consolation championship 8-3 as the sixth seed. Brady Lowery in flight four would finish in fourth place as the fifth seed finished higher than his seeding. Lucas Hight in flight one, Levi Hight in flight five and Jacob LaRoche in flight six would all drop their fifth place semifinal match.
In doubles flight two, William Southern and Lueking would finish off a third place finish as the fifth seed beat the sixth seed Milbank squad 8-2. Doubles flight one of Lucas Hight and Leiferman finished in fourth place, two spots higher than their seeding, and doubles flight three of Lowery and LaRoche would take home fifth place to round out the scoring for the Governors.
Pierre would finish in fifth place, just behind Huron while Sioux Falls Christian ran away with the team title and Rapid City Christian in second and St. Thomas More in the third.
