The Pierre Governor softball team was unable to get past a tough Brandon Valley squad as the Lynx would clip the Govs 9-1 in Pierre on Tuesday.
After a 5-1 loss to Washington on Monday at home, Brandon Valley recovered using a big fifth inning to secure the win. Alivia Heymans tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third with an RBI triple, but Brandon Valley responded with a two run fourth to take a 3-1 lead into the fifth inning. The Lynx had three extra base hits and seven hits in total in the inning, also taking advantage of an error to score six runs in the fifth to get a controlling 9-1 lead. Noel Kist would take the loss in the circle going four innings allowing eight runs, five earned on nine hits with a walk.
Pierre is now 3-14 on the season and will travel to O’Gorman on Thursday for an evening contest. First pitch is at 6:00.
