The Pierre Governor track and field team had one of its best showings ever at the Howard Wood Dakota relays this past weekend as the Governors broke school records and set top ten South Dakota times.
Starting with the sprint medley relay team of Carson Stoeser, Carter Schiefelbein, Eladio Simental and Caleb Morris running a time of 3:29.26 which won the event while breaking a school record and setting the third fastest time in South Dakota history. Colter Babcock throwing the javelin also broke his own school record from last year which is now at 173’01 and is in the top ten in South Dakota history. Charlee Williams-Smith also won the 400 meter dash setting a top 10 time in South Dakota history. Kali Ringstmeyer, who got fifth in the 200 meter dash in a special event also ranked inside the top 10 in South Dakota history while her 11.77 run in the 100 meters in the semifinals was another top 10 South Dakota time. The team of Emlyn Swanson, Williams-Smith, Brooke Hansen and Ringstmeyer rebroke a school record in the 4×100 which they had set earlier in the season. The Governors will travel to Aberdeen for the Al Sahli Invite which is scheduled to begin at 3:30 on Friday.
