The Pierre Governor softball team would get a second win on the season against the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles with a 14-3 victory on Tuesday.
Pierre would jump out to a 7-0 lead after the top of the third as Pierre scored four runs in the second. After Aberdeen made it 7-2 after three full innings, the Govs scored seven times in the top of the fifth to extend the lead to 14-2 and kept the Golden Eagles from getting within nine to end it in five. Elly Broers and Noel Kist each had a double and Ireland Templeton and Ally Keyes each had three runs driven in in the win for Pierre. McKenzi Flottmeyer would pick up the win in the circle going five innings with three hits, one earned run, two walks and eight strikeouts. Aberdeen Central remains winless at now 0-9. Pierre improves to 3-5 on the season.
Pierre will finish the week at a busy pace. The Govs will make up its game against Brookings on Friday in Sioux Falls as the Govs will play four games in total between Friday and Saturday all in Sioux Falls.
