The Pierre Governor baseball team will get back on the field after two weeks off when they travel to Sioux Falls for the Border Battle, facing two North Dakota teams and two South Dakota teams.
Today will be reserved for the North Dakota teams for Pierre. The Governors will face Grand Forks Central and West Fargo in back-to-back games. It’s great tune up games for Saturday’s clash against the South Dakota teams as only South Dakota games are factored into the standings.
Then on Saturday, the Governors will open the day against the Roosevelt Roughriders. It will be the third South Dakota game this week for the Roughriders, who dropped its game on Monday to Harrisburg, beat Mitchell on Tuesday and O’Gorman on Thursday. They are 2-2 in south Dakota games and 2-6 overall on the season. O’Gorman will be playing its fourth South Dakota game of the week after a doubleheader with Brandon Valley on Tuesday which they swept, but the lost to Roosevelt on Thursday puts them at 5-6 overall and 4-1 in South Dakota games. Roosevelt is now 2-2 going 2-1 in South Dakota games this week.
Pierre will play starting at 5:45 tonight and then at 10:30 AM on Saturday against Roosevelt and 3:00 on Saturday against O’Gorman, all at the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls. KCCR’s next broadcast will be on Thursday, April 17, the home opener for Pierre.
