As the hockey season has come to an end, the All-State awards and Sanderson Academic Awards are handed out to individuals around the state. The Capitals had two represent the All-State girls team and four total be Academic award winners.
For All-State, both Brylee Kafka and Kallee Behm would make first team All-State for the Caps. Kafka led the league in goals and points as she scored 35 goals in the regular season and had a league high 45 points in her senior year. Kafka finished with over 100 career goals, just the third girl in Capitals history to reach the feat.
Behm finished her first season on the girls team. The sophomore was second on the team in goals with nine and third on the team in points with 15 as she played both as a forward and on defense throughout the year.
A total of four seniors were given the Sanderson Academic Award. To qualify, a player must be a senior, have participated in SDAHA hockey for at least three years and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. Both seniors on the girls team, Kafka and goalie Sophia Peschong made the list. For the Capital boys team, Jesse Eldridge and Keegan Kitts were given the award.
