Iran says communication with the United States is continuing despite growing concerns about renewed military conflict in the Middle East.
On October 25, Iranian officials confirmed that messages were still being exchanged through intermediaries, according to the Associated Press. However, formal negotiations remain stalled, with Tehran rejecting Washington’s demands for complete surrender.
President Donald Trump said the United States would not launch an attack against Iran that day. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Iran or its allies could carry out attacks ahead of Israel’s elections.
Tensions are also affecting other parts of the region. Saudi Arabia intercepted missiles and drones launched by Houthi forces from Yemen, with falling debris reportedly injuring two people.
In Gaza, Palestinian hospital officials said Israeli strikes killed seven people despite an existing ceasefire.
The International Committee of the Red Cross also confirmed that Israel had resumed providing lists of Palestinian detainees, although prison visits remain suspended.
Pope Leo XIV separately called for an end to fighting in Yemen, where civilians continue facing serious shortages of essential supplies.
