The Pierre Governor softball team will have to wait longer for its home opener with Tuesday’s game being postponed due to the colder temperatures and high winds affecting the Pierre area.
The Governors were scheduled to face the Mitchell Kernels in the second game of the season, but will have to wait until mid May for the Kernels to come to town to face the Govs. Now, the Govs will have to wait another week for its home opener as Pierre will host Watertown next week Tuesday. Pierre is scheduled to be on the road to take on Yankton on Thursday as the schedule will start to ramp up, as long as weather permits games to be played. Mitchell now has had its first two games of the season postponed and will open the year against Aberdeen Central on Thursday. Pierre is 1-0 and will face the 0-1 Gazelles on Thursday who lost 7-4 to Brookings in their first game of the season.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 Thursday evening from Yankton Sertoma Park.
