The Pierre Governor baseball team had two great weather days for baseball on Saturday and Sunday to start the season, but on Thursday the weather didn’t cooperate to play against Harrisburg.
The Governors and Harrisburg Tigers were set for baseball on Thursday in a doubleheader in Harrisburg as it would have been the Tigers first South Dakota games of the season. However, the cold temperatures and the chance of precipitation throughout the day and the last couple of days forced the game to be called. Even had the chance of precipitation not been in the forecast, the cold temperatures would have made the game difficult to played as well and instead, the 2-2 Govs will turn to Monday’s matinee against the Mitchell Kernels. It’ll be an early afternoon game being the day after Easter and both off of school. Pierre is still two weeks away from its home opener against Brookings on Friday, April 17. A makeup date has not been set.
First pitch on Monday is scheduled for 1:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
