The Black Hills State Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team would drop its Division II Elite Eight contest to Nova Southeastern on Wednesday 76-66 as the Yellow Jackets season comes to an end.
Trailing 40-29 at the end of the first half to the top seeded Sharks, BH tried to make a run several different times and outscored the Sharks in the second half, but ultimately couldn’t get closer than six points down the stretch. Made free throws down the stretch for Nova Southeastern paved the way to move on to the semifinals at now 31-1 going 23-34 from the line. Ross Reeves had the game high 31 points for the Sharks as four players hit double figures including Bennett Kayser off the bench with 11. Jaxon Nap had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Nova Southeastern. BJ Woodruff led Black Hills State with 19 points while both Jaeton Hackley and Joel Speckman had 10 each. Jack Haggett had just two points but grabbed a team high 11 rebounds.
Black Hills State finishes the season at 30-5 going 17-3 in conference play. Nova Southeastern will advance to face Lander on Friday in the semifinals.
