The Dakota Wesleyan Tigers would fall to the Marian, Indiana Knights on Monday night 62-54 keeping both South Dakota teams out of the NAIA championship in Sioux City, Iowa.
Marian would take a nine point lead at the end of the first and lead by 11 at the break, 28-17. The Tigers pulled within three with just over six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but would be as close as they would get as Marian would go 18-26 from the free throw line in the game including 9-12 in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Marian improves to 34-2 while Dakota Wesleyan finishes the season at 29-7. Both Avery Broughton and Rylee Rosenquist went for 10 points each while Shalayne Nagel had 10 rebounds to lead the Tigers. Marian would get a double-double performance from Abbey McNally with 16 points and 11 rebounds while Madisyn Bailey would finish with 15.
Both Dakota Wesleyan and Dakota State come up one game short of making it an all South Dakota championship. Dordt and Marian will face off in the championship game at 7:00 on Tuesday.
