The Lyman Raiders would fall to the Wall Eagles in the third place game at the Class B state tournament in Aberdeen on Saturday with a 58-55 loss.
The Raiders would trail 33-27 at the end of the first half, but then took the lead after three quarters outscoring the Eagles by nine, 43-40. But the Eagles didn’t go away and battled to take the lead with 2:44 left and then hit free throws down the stretch to hold off the Raiders even with Body Montgomery getting a final shot at the buzzer to try and tie the game. The Raiders went the final four and a half minutes without a field goal unable to get the third place win. MJ Diehm had the game high 22 points while Dawson Volmer had 20 with seven rebounds. Wall was led by both Emmet Dinger and Teelan Kjerstad each scoring 16 points. Dawson Handcock had seven points but grabbed a game high 12 rebounds for the Eagles.
The Raiders finish the season in fourth place and at 18-8 on the season. Conway Collins and Ben Herman are the only two seniors to graduate from Lyman this year.
