Team South Dakota High School girls would win its pool and go 3-0 after a 2-0 win on Friday over the Jr. Steelheads of Idaho in a defensive game to finish off Pool Play.
Only 28 shots were put on goal between the two teams, but Team SD outshot the Steelheads 15-13 and would get the 2-0 victory. Sioux Falls’ Rebecca Harris would have both goals in the first and second period as Brookings’ Rorii Quam had the 13 save shutout to go to 2-0 as the Team SD starting goalie. South Dakota is one of three undefeated teams between the two pools with the other two teams in the other pool. South Dakota will have to win twice on Saturday to reach the finals on Sunday but if the higher seeds win, they do not have play another undefeated team on Saturday.
Team SD will face the Norwich Hockey Club of Connecticut in the quarterfinals on Saturday who went 1-2 during pool play. Puck drop is at 12:30. If Team SD wins, they will play at 7:30 in the semifinals against the winner of Sunflower Gold of Minnesota, who they beat in the first game of the tournament, or Bay Reps of Michigan.
