FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Fort Pierre Local Board of Equalization will be meeting just prior to the Fort Pierre City Council meeting tonight. That meeting is set for 5:30 pm while the regular Council meeting will start at six pm. The Local Board of Equalization will consider four requests and if those requests are not completed; that meeting will recess until the end of the Council meeting and resume. As for the Council meeting, city officials will start by presenting reports to the Council. Council members will consider a request to apply for federal funding and placement on the state water plan for both water storage and treatment. Bid awards will also be considered for 2026 curb and gutter work. The Council will consider authorizing for surplus a 2017 sweeper and will hear an update from Stanley County Emergency Manager Dustin Baxter. Council members will set a public hearing for April 20th for an event in June at the Stanley County Fairgrounds and give authorization to sign an Agri-Business grant agreement with the state Department of Transportation. Other agenda items include first reading of the 2026 budget supplement ordinance and a resolution for setting BID District number 2 and setting a public hearing date. Both meetings take place tonight at the South Dakota Municipal League meeting room.
