The Oahe Capitals would be bounced from the boys state tournament on Friday in a 5-2 loss to the Sioux Falls East Flyers in the consolation semifinals in Sioux Falls.
The Capitals would again score the first goal of the game as Ayden Behm would open the scoring just four minutes into the game with a pass from Aiden Bauder as two of the four captains connected to begin the scoring. However, Hayden Hanson would score the next three goals and get the Flyers a 2-1 lead after one and 3-1 lead early in the second. Down 4-1 to start the third, Behm would get his second goal of the game on the power play from Dylan Dodson and the Caps drew within two, but couldn’t get the next one as Thatcher May made it 5-2 to finish off the win and advance to the consolation championship. Noah Lueking was outstanding in net stopping 29 of 34 shots with a lot of key saves to keep the Caps within striking distance. Oahe goes 0-2 in the tournament having to face the three and two seeds in their two games, but had a valiant effort in both games.
The Capitals will graduate seniors, Behm, Dodson, Bauder, Bridger Babcock, Asher Vanden Bos, Lyle Boni and Keller Shaw.
