PIERRE, (KCCR) — The names of those involved in a fatal rollover crash in Mellette County have been released by the South Dakota Highway Patrol. The crash happened Sunday on Ring Thunder Road; 13 miles southeast of White River. The preliminary crash investigation shows a 2009 Chevy Colorado was traveling east on Ring Thunder Road when the driver failed to negotiation a curve. That caused the vehicle to roll over into the north ditch and eject all four occupants from the pickup. Killed in the crash was 18 year-old Lailabelle Kathleen Whirlwind Soldier-Hunger of Mission. Soldier-Hunger was pronounced dead at the scene. The three remaining occupants, two men and a woman, received serious non-life-threatening injuries. They include 18 year-old Francis Quick Bear; 18 year-old Revvin Quick Bear and a 17 year-old female passenger. The Highway Patrol’s investigation indicates that no one in the pickup was using a seat belt at the time of the crash. A driver of the vehicle has not been determined but the Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
