For the first time since 1997, the Stanley County Buffaloes will be at the Class A state tournament beating the Flandreau Fliers 54-45 Tuesday night in Miller in the SoDak 16.
The Buffs trailed 2-0, but that was it. The Buffaloes never trailed again and led the rest of the way even though Flandreau fought to try and make a comeback at the end of the game, but it was too little too late. The 20-2 Buffaloes were not going to be denied its spot in the Class A state tournament in Rapid City next week Thursday. Senior Paxton Deal led the scoring with 16 points as he hit the final free throws and then dribbled out the clock. Trevor Caldwell had 12 points in one of his best games of the year. Eddie Duffy had eight.
Stanley County will face Clark/Willow Lake in the first round on Thursday at the Summit Arena in Rapid City. It will be the final game of the night scheduled for 7:45 Central Time.
